In-Home Occupational Therapy

Santa Clarita in-home occupational therapy (OT) offers children the comfort and security of learning right where they live. It allows skills to be practiced in real-life familiar settings-whether that means adapting your living room for play-based sensory motor development, exploring new textures and foods at the kitchen table, working on motor skills in the backyard, or teaching strategies for increased independence in your child's daily living routines.

How In-Home Occupational Therapy (OT) Works
Therapy sessions are typically one hour each week for an agreed amount of time, and conveniently take place in your home or local community space. Sessions are hands-on, play-based, and designed to help your child build skills in real-life settings.
Throughout our time together, families participate in sessions as they are able and we stay in close communication with caregivers via text, email and phone calls, offering ongoing education, strategies, and resources to support progress between sessions.

Throughout the process, we provide progress feedback and collaborate with other professionals involved in your child’s care — such as teachers, therapists, or healthcare providers — to ensure consistent support and carry over of skills across settings. When your child is ready to transition out of therapy, we create a collaborative plan to help them continue thriving at home, school, and in the community.

Step 1: Evaluation
The therapy journey begins with a comprehensive assessment where we take time to understand your child’s unique story — including their developmental history, current strengths and challenges, sensory needs, and the home environment. Together, we identify meaningful goals that support regulation, connection, and independence in daily life.

Step 2: Intervention
Weekly in-home therapy sessions are playful, hands-on, and tailored to your child’s unique goals and environment. Each session focuses on building regulation, skills, confidence, and independence through meaningful daily activities and sensory-rich play. Caregivers are actively involved, gaining strategies and insights to support progress throughout the week.

Step 3: Transition
Once therapy goals have been achieved, we collaborate with caregivers to create a thoughtful transition plan. This may include moving to a monthly consultative model while supporting your child’s integration into community programs and activities. Our focus is on ensuring families feel confident, empowered, and fully supported as they move forward.
